DSABC
Debate and Speech Association of British Columbia

WELCOME TO THE DSABC!

Message from the President

Welcome!

As history tells us, human progress is not guaranteed, but if there is one essential foundation for any such progress, it would be our ability to communicate.  Eloquence with words is central to both the development of complex thought and great works.  It is not enough just to speak, however.  The need for reason and the ability to challenge ideas is paramount.  Thus, both speech and debate are key skills for any successful citizen of any progressive society.

Ironically, however, though such skills are a central part of a successful society, debate and speech is not always available in all schools.  Thus, the Debate and Speech Association of B.C., a grass roots volunteer group of teachers and students, has taken on the role of developing debate and speech opportunities.  This website is, therefore, designed to offer structures, activities and events that will allow teachers and students to be informed and approach debate in a manner consistent with fellow members and proven to provide participants with high quality learning experiences.

Should anyone using this site want more information or assistance, they might contact a regional representative close to their area or any other Board member and take advantage of the collective experience represented by that group (see "contact us" above).

Sincerely,

John E. Baty
DSABC President
